Our sensory garden fosters curiosity and connection among children and families, encourages mindful stewardship of our shared space and planet, and increases knowledge of native plants, water conservation, and habitats. Families enjoy our sensory garden by smelling, touching, tasting, and looking at all the different vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs. Families and staff work together to weed & water, maintain, and improve the garden growing all year long. We also promote “green” choices through our garden, like using herbs and other greenery from the garden in nature-inspired craft kits, such as our take-n-make culinary herb wreath gifts for the winter holiday season. This year, we’re adding mason bees to our sensory garden through the Backyard Habitat Certification project, and installing a rain garden and bird habitat filled with native plants!
