Earth Day Oregon Partnerships

St. Johns Swapnplay is part of Earth Day Oregon 2024 because addressing the pressing challenges we face and creating a sustainable world requires all of us!

Our work to promote responsible consumption and production happens in many ways, and is critical to keeping our neighborhoods, communities, and Earth healthy; by providing a community space for families to share, trade, and pass along gently-used goods, we keep items in circulation for longer, extending their useful lives and improving access to child-related items for families of all income levels; St. Johns Swapnplay is committed to helping healthy families grow on a healthy planet. By promoting “green” choices in our space, we initiate a ripple-effect of sustainability in our community- and together we can make a huge difference!

The work of our fellow partners, Crown Bees, Plant Based Candles, and StormBreaker St. Johns, is also helping to further our collective Earth Day action. We all have different missions, teams, and places we call home in Oregon, and this diversity and collaboration is essential to realizing sustainability everywhere!

Starting in founder Dave’s garage in 2008, Crown Bees is a small company with a significant impact. They have set the standard for best practices in solitary bee raising through collaborations with researchers, peers, and community groups, and helped thousands of gardeners and farmers across the United States and Canada grow fresh, healthy food.

Crown Bees is offering a discount code for orders of bees and pollinator supplies- click here to order some goodies! Bringing pollinators to your yard and our community while supporting our fundraiser is win-win-WIN! 🐝

Plant Based Candles are committed to creating natural, non-toxic candles that your whole family can enjoy, from lighting to reusing! After they’ve finished burning, the containers can become planters, eliminating waste and rebelling against the expected single-use system for goods. Their candles aren’t trash and never will be! They’re made from high quality ingredients with the seeds of change in every box, ready for planting once your candle is finished burning. Plus, this local business is right here in St. Johns- Portland customers can return their empty ceramic vessels overnight to have it refilled with organic coconut wax and the fragrance of their choice at a discount!

Plant Based Candles have generously provided a special link for Swapnplay member families to use when ordering, in addition to making an in-kind donation. If you’re a current Swapnplay family, inquire about the code before you order!

Join our partners in collective action all April long!
