EDO Thank you!
Thanks to our community’s support and our Earth Day Oregon business partners, our Earth Day Oregon celebration was a wonderful success! On Friday evening, we said “cheers to Earth Day!” with our Lombard House fundraiser! $1 from each beer sold was donated- thanks for drinking for a good cause! On Saturday, in partnership with the Red Sea Church, we brought back The Great Exchange after a 2 year hiatus. This free community swapping event was an opportunity to share resources, like clothes, toys, games, books, and household items, with our community, keeping waste out of landfills while helping folks find new-to-them treasures! This year’s exchange also featured Ridwell! They got in on the fun by collecting plastic film at the event, keeping it out of landfills and waterways, to be recycled into NexTrex eco-friendly composite decking! Repair PDX joined us as well, offering a Tinker ‘n Play workshop for children and bringing an expert sewist to mend items that needed a quick fix. Repair, reuse, and recycle! This year, to spread the community care even further, we asked for donations of shelf-stable food for St. Johns Food Share, or household items for Community of Hope, and thanks to everyone’s generosity, we were able to fill a box for each organization! A huge and special “Volunteer Month” thank you to the Red Sea & Charis volunteers, our Swap member volunteers, and community volunteer helpers who made this day possible- From setting up, helping the day run smoothly, caring for the outdoor spaces, and packing up at the end, we are so thankful that we had so many friends lend a hand! Our other Earth Day Oregon business partners Equal Exchange West, Sparrowhawk Native Plants, and The Nature Atelier helped us amplify Earth Day even further through their support! Thanks for coming out, and mark your calendars for our next community event- Spring Fling Fundraiser is on Saturday, May 7th, 9am -3pm! See you soon!
