UN SDGs-last one!
The United Nations General Assembly’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs, are designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” St. Johns Swapnplay is proud to be aligned with three of these goals: making quality education accessible, reducing inequalities, and promoting responsible consumption and production. Ho w are we working to further these goals? So glad you asked! 🙂
St. Johns Swapnplay is dedicated to serving our community. One way we accomplish this is through being mindful stewards of our environment, and encouraging and supporting our community in doing the same. Reducing consumption and promoting community trading and sharing is an integral part of our mission. Our Trading Post spans two rooms and allows members to find, donate, and share essential, sweet, memory-filled, and well-loved items with our member community. From children and adult clothes, to baby gear, to educational material for caregivers and kids, we are well-stocked to support growing families. Take what you need, pass along what you don’t. That’s the “Swap” in “Swapnplay”!
While the COVID-19 pandemic has temporarily changed how we offer some of these resources and activities, we’re still as active as ever, taking events online and offering several ways to swap goods safely! In addition to our regular swapping, we are proud to host annual events, like Green Friday (our purchase-free alternative to inter holiday hopping) and the Great Exchange (an annual, neighborhood-wide goods swap), and promote sustainable, mindful choices year-round through our “green” approaches to cleaning, crafting, gift wrapping, recycling (thanks, BottleDropOregon!), planting, eating, and, well, you get the idea! We’re dedicated to taking care of our community, our planet, and our bodies through mindful and sustainable choices!
